Overview
The Law Studies program at CU Denver offers both a BA and a minor that provide an interdisciplinary foundation in law and the U.S. legal system while developing critical thinking and analytical skills. Drawing on historical, philosophical, sociological, and humanistic approaches, the program examines major areas of law that shape life in the United States and influence current social, political, and economic events.
Program Goals:
- Introduce students to key areas of law and pressing legal issues.
- Build fluency in legal vocabulary and reasoning.
- Equip students with conceptual tools to be engaged, critical citizens in a constitutional democracy.
The BA prepares students for graduate programs such as JD, Master of Legal Studies (MSL), and Master of Social Science (MSS). The minor complements a wide range of fields, appealing to students interested in law, public policy, and social issues, and includes advising for those considering law school. Graduates are equipped for careers in law, public policy, civil rights advocacy, and industry roles requiring legal literacy and regulatory compliance.
