Women's and Gender Studies Graduate Certificate

Certificate Requirements 

  1. Students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours from approved coursework.
  2. Students must complete all credit hours for the certificate at the graduate (5000 or above) level.
  3. Students must earn a minimum grade of B- (2.7) in all courses taken at CU Denver and must achieve a minimum cumulative certificate GPA of 3.0. Courses taken using P+/P/F or S/U grading cannot apply to certificate requirements.
  4. Students must complete all credits for the certificate with CU Denver faculty.

Note: Some of the following courses may have prerequisites that must be met. Please see course descriptions.

Complete one of the following Feminism and Gender Theory Seminars:3
Survey of Feminist Thought
Contemporary Feminist Thought
Methods and Theories of Feminism and Gender Studies
Complete nine additional elective credit hours from the following:9
These courses must be explicitly women's and/or gender and/or identity-based courses. They can be taken through any CU Denver department or program with the approval of an advisor. One 4000-level elective may be counted toward the certificate, with permission from the certificate director. The following is a representative list of WGST-related courses that may be taken toward the certificate; it is not comprehensive. Please note that some of these courses may be taught sporadically. Students should meet with their advisor to plan their course of study.
