In today’s increasingly mobile and connected world, employees must navigate complex international information systems, build multinational relationships, and foster diverse, inclusive global workforces. These essential skills are at the core of the Graduate Certificate in Global and Intercultural Communication. This 12-credit graduate certificate equips students with the knowledge and expertise needed to analyze, assess, and create effective global and intercultural communication strategies. As globalization continues to shape public and professional life, this program prepares students to engage meaningfully across cultures and international contexts.

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Apply global and intercultural communication theories to effectively engage across diverse cultural, global, and transnational settings.
  2. Assess the strengths and limitations of major approaches to global and intercultural communication, including indigenous, cultural, and cross-cultural perspectives.
  3. Identify and address the diverse needs and interests of stakeholders in communication and conflict resolution.
  4. Evaluate global media practices and their limitations in representing different cultures and nation-states.
  5. Analyze the ways globalization both facilitates and challenges intercultural communication.
  6. Develop ethical and effective oral, written, and digital communication for global and intercultural audiences. This program provides valuable skills for professionals in international business, diplomacy, media, education, and other globally connected fields.
